My Role

Consultant on program development and contracted to create content

The Deliverables

My work with Penn State Health focused on developing and implementing their Food is Medicine program for patients, staff, and community members. I was also contracted to design culinary medicine offerings for research studies and through the CARE (Cancer Assistance & Resource Education) Center. This included program design and implementation, clinical integration, curriculum development, and the creation of culinary medicine resources, including a cookbook.

The Outcome

This project began as a grant-funded initiative that combined gardening and culinary medicine interventions for community members that resulted in numerous publications. Over time, the contract expanded to support additional departments across the health system, including the Cancer Institute, and to further develop the Food is Medicine program. Participant feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with one sharing, "The cooking classes are so fun and engaging. They’ve made me love cooking again."
